The registry is the part of your computer that holds all references for you computer. It holds where things are and what things go to, as well as all of the settings that make your computer look the way it does! Obviously, if this gets cluttered with invalid references, it can slow down your computer. This can help you with this problem! We will be using a program called AML Free Registry Cleaner (Yes, I said free!). Go here to download it and then install it. Once it is installed, run it!

 

Once you open the program, you will get a screen like the one shown on the right. Click "Scan" once and make sure everything is checked. Then click "Scan" again! The program will then scan the registry for invalid and obsolete entries that can cause your computer to run slower. This scanning process can take quite some time, however, so be sure to save some time in order to do this!

 

The scan will complete after a while. When it is done, click the "Fix All" button underneath of the scan results box. Then click "Yes" when prompted whether or not you are sure that you want to fix all of the errors. This will repair and remove everything that needs to be fixed or taken away in order to make the computer run faster and more efficiently.

 

That's it! That part was simple, and the next time you start your computer, it should be running much faster!
