Guide To Computer Security
Virus Removal
The first step to making sure a computer is secure is by removing all of the viruses and spyware on it. If you didn't do this step, the malicious items that are on your computer may start allowing other things on, even after you think it is secure! First, go here and download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. For simplicity's sake, just save it to your desktop. When it is finished downloading, double click on "mbam-setup.exe" on your desktop. Install it, open it, and follow the following steps:
1) Update it (if you don't have internet, you don't have to update it, just for better results.) Click the update tab at the top of the screen and click "Check for Updates."
![]() 2) Click on the "Scanner" tab and click "Perform Quick Scan" and the "Scan" button to scan your computer for viruses, Trojans etc. (If you want to be more through, click the "Full Scan" button, but this will take over an hour compared to about ten minutes.) Quick scan should be sufficient enough, though. 3) What you see may be a little bit different than what the picture below shows. I didn't have anything malicious on my computer, so it said that there was nothing and gave a link to go back to the main menu. If there was something found on your computer, click the "Show Results" button, make sure that everything in the text box is checked, then click the "Remove Selected" button.
![]() 4) A text-box should open up after this is done. You can go ahead and close this. Also, keep in mind that you may have to restart your computer after the scan is done. You should now have all of the viruses, trojans, and other malicious items off of your computer! This should show significant improvement in computer speed if there were many items found! I would recommend scanning your computer weekly for these items! (This may look a little familiar. The instructions here are the same exact ones as the virus removal step in My Computer is Slow!)
